Product Monetization

Redecor is a mobile interior design game by Playtika, where players design beautiful spaces while enjoying friendly competition. My goal for this project was to enhance the editor design experience and to support the game’s business goals by addressing two key challenges related to engagement and monetization.

Goal

Enhance player convenience and creativity with features that simplify design and purchasing flows.

The Problems

1. No Simple Way to Resubmit Designs

When I joined Redecor, one of our main goals was to get players to create more designs, which would naturally lead to more use of in game currency and drive purchases - a common strategy in mobile games.

The problem was that players couldn’t easily edit or resubmit their existing designs, which made the process slow and frustrating. This led to fewer submissions and less engagement. The solution was clear: we needed a duplication feature to make redesigns quick and easy, encouraging players to participate more.

  1. Limited Material Preview

At the time, Redecor’s material preview system only let players see two materials at once. If they added a third, the first would disappear, making it impossible to view their designs as a whole. It was frustrating and made the process feel clunky. On top of that, there was no way to buy all materials at once, which slowed everything down even more. We needed to fix this to make designing smoother, faster, and more fun.

Solutions

Quick Access to Previous Designs

I designed the redesign feature to give players two simple options: resubmit the same design or edit it before submitting. Both options are easy to use and keep things straightforward for players.

The always-visible design panel allows players to quickly make changes to any item they want. This keeps the process flexible and intuitive, making it easy to iterate and stay creative.

Unlimited Tagged Items Previews

I designed the purchase popup as a sheet that slides up from the bottom, keeping the design visible and unlimited tags exposed. This makes it easy for players to see exactly what they’re buying without disrupting their creative flow.

The Eye Tool allows players to clear all tags with a single tap, providing a distraction-free view of their design. This ensures a seamless and intuitive experience, enhancing both usability and enjoyment.
